March 23, 2011. Utility Service & Simpson Sandblasting Announce Alliance

PERRY, GA, March 23, 2011 –Chris Boyd, President of Utility Service, and Ryan Simpson, President of Simpson Sandblasting and Special Coating, Inc., announce an alliance of the two companies for serving the potable water markets in the western states. 

This alliance recognizes the knowledge, experience and diversity of Simpson Sandblasting as well as the quality of work and exceptional safety records.  Certifications from the SSPC (Steel Structure Painting Council) for both QP1 and QP2 and by MBE (Minority Business Enterprise issued by the SCMBDC -- Southern California Minority Business Development Council) attest to both superior quality of work and prestigious market reputation.  Additionally, Simpson received the 2009 Steel Tank of the Year Award, recognition from the Steel Tank Institute.  The Institute judges tanks nationally for this annual award.  Simpson Sandblasting specializes in sandblasting and painting water storage reservoirs, pump stations, clarifiers, digesters, bridges, concrete reservoirs, water treatment plants as well as elevated and petroleum tanks. In this alliance Simpson Sandblasting shall exclusively supply sand blasting and coating services for the water tank renovations provided by Utility Service in the western states.  Utility Service began business in 1963 and covers most of the 48 contiguous states with plans to expand into remaining states.  Utility Service’s headquarters, located in Perry, Georgia, is the epicenter of ten service center facilities strategically located nationally.  Over forty sales representatives serve from their respective territorial sales offices.

Acquisition strengthens capabilities in northeastern US

PERRY, GA, May 26, 2010 – Utility Service Co., Inc., the nation’s leading supplier of water storage tank maintenance services, announced today that it has completed the acquisition of JPI Painting, Inc. of Poland, Ohio. JPI Painting is dedicated to the rehabilitation of water storage tanks, steel structures and silos – specializing in the application of linings for a variety of industries.

“We are extremely pleased to welcome the employees and clients of JPI Painting to the Utility Service organization,” said Chris Boyd, president of Utility Service. “JPI’s skilled, reliable employees have established an excellent reputation over the years.”

The company conducts business in Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, North and South Dakota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, and West Virginia. According to Boyd, JPI Painting complements and supports Utility Service sales efforts in the area. “They have a solid and growing baseline business that we believe will immediately support our sales effort to grow our business in the northeast,” said Boyd.   

Utility Service provides water tank maintenance services for more than 2,000 municipalities and private utilities throughout the United States, with a high concentration of clients in the southeast. The acquisition of JPI Painting, plus the acquisition of Merithew Incorporated of Massachusetts last year, enables Utility Service to establish much stronger capacity in the northeast.

Mike Lewis, Sr. Vice President of Sales announces the appointment of Randy Moore as Vice President, Speciatly Products and Technical Service.

In our continued response to ever-changing customer and market needs, I am proud to announce the following appointment to become effective immediately.

Randy Moore will become Vice President, Specialty Products and Technical Services. 

On the specialty side of this dual-role, Randy will develop and implement strategies to penetrate and grow our specialty products business on a national level.  Randy will lead Utility Service’s research and development efforts in support of WaterMix and in the development of specialty products. 

On the technical services side, Randy will provide technical assistance and support to the sales force and management team on a national level.  Randy will represent USCI nationally with AWWA, NRWA and other industry associations. 

Randy’s deep knowledge of the water industry and technical skill-set coupled with his intimate understanding of water-related legislative issues gives him a strong foundation for success in this role. This appointment will further enhance the company's platform of products and services and will position USCI to better realize its long term growth strategy.

Strategic Alliance Brings Together the Nation's Leading Water Storage Tank Maintenance Provider with the Manufacturer of the World's Most Efficient Water Mixers

Perry, GA, and San Rafael, CA - Utility Service Co., Inc. (USCI), the nation's leading supplier of water storage tank maintenance services, and PAX Water Technologies, Inc. (PAX), an award-winning water technology research and engineering group announced an exclusive partnership agreement today.

Under the agreement, Utility Service Co. will offer the PAX Mixer, a submersible active mixing system designed for potable water storage tanks, as part of its WaterMix™ program. The WaterMix™ Solutions program is designed to enable water managers to achieve cleaner water, more stable operations and reduce the risks of non compliance through a combination of unique technologies and regular maintenance. Chris Boyd, President, announces the promotion of Jonathan Cato to Vice President, Operations, for Utility Service Company. 

In this position, Jonathan will be directing the full range of services that we offer to our more than 2,000 clients.  This includes managing our nine regional service centers, as well as multiple subcontract service providers on a national level.

Jonathan has been with us for over 8 years, the past five years as General Manager of our Bid Department, where he has established a record of achievement in the procuring and managing of public and private bid projects.

Acquisition establishes water storage tank maintenance service center in Northeast

PERRY, GA, February 4, 2009 — Utility Service Co., Inc. (USCI), the nation’s leading supplier of water storage tank maintenance services, announced today that it has completed the acquisition of Merithew Incorporated of Bridgewater, MA. Founded in 1963 by Robert L. Merithew, Merithew Incorporated provides comprehensive, professional water tank inspection services to municipal and industrial water and wastewater customers in the states of Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Connecticut, New York and New Jersey.

Utility Service Co., Inc. proactively contacted Maintenance Program customers within the impact area of Hurricane Ike to determine whether water tanks were damaged during the recent severe weather.  Of primary interest was definition of the need for washout and disinfection inspections, a service benefit of our maintenance programs.  Additionally, we stand ready for visual engineering inspections to assess damage to the tanks as a means to assist in claims with FEMA and insurance companies.
